The closing date is 04 March 2026

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our growing team in Birmingham, working in partnership with the Youth Justice Service and local education settings. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality, evidence-based support to children and young people with a wide range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), including those with complex needs and those within the justice system.

At Chatterbug, we are a national social enterprise driven by impact. Our work changes lives by improving communication, confidence, and long-term outcomes for vulnerable young people. You will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, contribute to EHCPs and Court Reports, and deliver specialist interventions that make a measurable difference.

We offer a supportive, values-led environment built on being Open, Connected, Dependable and showing Fortitude. If you are passionate about clinical excellence, multi-agency collaboration, and creating lasting social impact, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

You will deliver specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to children and young people across schools and the Youth Justice Service in Birmingham. The role involves identifying communication needs, developing tailored intervention plans, and supporting positive outcomes through measurable, evidence-based practice.

You will work closely with education staff, Youth Justice professionals and families to ensure communication needs are recognised and appropriately supported. The role includes contributing to multidisciplinary discussions, preparing clear professional reports (including EHCP and court-related documentation), and advising on communication-friendly environments.

You will also provide guidance and training to professionals, supervise less experienced staff where appropriate, and contribute to service improvement initiatives. This is a varied role requiring strong clinical reasoning, confidence in complex cases, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
