Freight Bill Clerk

Overview

The Freight Bill Clerk supports a dedicated Transportation Management client with the accurate and timely processing of freight invoices and shipping documentation. This position plays a critical role in ensuring billing accuracy, cost control, and maintaining positive carrier and client relationships. This position reports to the Senior Account Manager.

• Audit, process, and reconcile freight bills, invoices, and related documents
• Verify carrier charges against contracts, rate agreements, and shipping documentation
• Resolve discrepancies with carriers, clients, or internal departments as needed
• Maintain accurate billing records in internal systems and ensure timely data entry
• Communicate with high volume carriers and vendors regarding payment statuses or billing issues
• Assist with month-end reporting and provide carrier aging report status updates
• Collaborate with the account management and carrier accounting teams to ensure the carrier partners are paid timely and streamline the client’s cash flow

• Associates Degree Required
• 4+ years’ experience in billing / accounting environment
• 1-2 years of transportation/clerical experience – LTL Bill of Ladings, freight invoices, and accessorial fee experience
• Excellent in Microsoft Applications – Word, Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Work as a team player, yet able to work independently
• Must have billing system experience
• Able to communicate professionally & promptly with management, coworkers, and customers
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Must have leadership and organizational skills
• Must have excellent MS Office Suite skills, Excel and Access a must

We are excited to share the base hourly rate for this position is $26.00 an HOUR. NFI takes into consideration applicants' qualifications, experience, education, geographic location, when determining a starting rate of pay.
