We are seeking a Medical Director to lead clinical services for inmate patients at CFG Health. The Medical Director oversees provision of medical services, manages primary and consultative care, collaborates with subspecialists and hospital providers, and ensures quality and compliance with industry standard and contractual obligations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and document routine physical examinations on inmate patients per NCCHC, ACA, and PBNDS standards.
  • Participate in annual review and approval of CFG clinical guidelines, protocols, policies, and the medical disaster plan.
  • Evaluate credentials of healthcare providers at the facility.
  • Assure implementation and supervision of on-site chronic care clinics.
  • Act as primary care physician to inmate patients and coordinate care at the jail and off‑site.
  • Provide medical examinations for new inmates within contracted intervals.
  • Order studies, tests, and ancillary services as required.
  • Supervise clinical services provided by professional and paraprofessional staff.
  • Conduct Doctor Sick Calls to treat referred patients.
  • Develop and apply policies, procedures, and protocols for detainee care.
  • Interview and hire physician and mid‑level provider staff.
  • Administer clinical service treatments, medications, and other interventions in accordance with state regulations and CFG formulary.
  • Provide emergency on‑site treatment and respond to urgent or emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete records of all care information.
  • Create a therapeutic environment to ensure professional, ethical, and tactful inmate care.
  • Ensure telephone orders are countersigned within 72 hours.
  • Monitor referrals to external health facilities for appropriateness and continuity of care.
Qualifications

Minimum Education
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of a U.S. residency program.
  • Current, unrestricted state medical license.
Minimum Work Experience
  • At least two years of public health, emergency, or family practice experience.
  • Preferred correctional health care experience.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Command of respect and confidence among inmates and staff.
  • Strong medical knowledge base and legal documentation skills.
  • Active CPR certification.
  • Unrestricted prescriptive authority (DEA, DEA‑X, CDS).
Functional Demands
  • Pass required health and screening tests.
  • Work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Provide 24‑hour on‑call coverage.
Physical Demands
  • Stand, sit, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, or stretch frequently.
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Lift or move up to 50 pounds.
