Operations Accountant at Conner Strong & Buckelew Job Summary

Responsible for timely & accurate preparation of financial data to provide useful information to Management for review & decision making.

• Perform monthly profit center analysis based on understanding of accounting principles and the business operation.
• Prepare month end accruals. Prepare month‑end journal entries and system reconciliations. Perform monthly and annual commission analysis and reports.
• Verification that all collections are appropriate and perform research with benefits carriers and field consultants. Responsible for the accuracy of reporting revenue from the cash to accrual basis.
• Perform general ledger review and analysis.
• Prepare employee benefits budgets, projections and producer results. Participate in financial meetings and requests within and outside of the organization.

• Attend meetings, in‑house training or other business events.
• Stay up to date on responsibilities, tasks and procedures for the Accounting department.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Strong financial and accounting skills including the ability to analyze data and problem solve.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to conduct business and perform job responsibilities with the highest level of confidentiality, discretion and trust.
• Exceptional organizational skills with a high attention to detail and dedication to producing an accurate and timely work product.
• Independent, flexible, self‑starter who can multi‑task and work with minimal supervision.
• Intermediate or higher Excel skills.
• Experience in the insurance industry and/or with Sagitta or other large agency management systems a plus.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis without Company sponsorship.

Office environment with moderate noise level; able to work flexible hours if needed.

Salary for this position ranges from $55,000.00 – $65,000.00. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis.
