Short DescriptionThe Phlebotomy Technician is primarily responsible for collecting specimens for laboratory testing in the inpatient setting. Patients may range from newborn through older adults. Team members are assigned to various inpatient units based on volume and are expected to provide timely and accurate service.
Experience Required0-2 years' experience required.
Education RequirementsHigh School/GED required.
Vocational/Technical School preferred.
Phlebotomy: venipuncture and capillary methods.
License/Certification RequirementsFormal Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
Special RequirementsA minimum of one year’s consecutive experience may be considered in lieu of certification.
