Harris Integrated Mission Systems is seeking a Technical Lead Software Engineer. Responsibilities include leading a software development team, translating requirements into working and maintainable solutions, planning development, assigning budgets and tasks, tracking progress, and enforcing processes across the SDLC. The selected candidate will apply technical proficiency across various stages of the SDLC, gather requirements, and work with stakeholders to prioritize and scope tasks.

This role will be a lead team member on a Scrum team and help set direction for product and infrastructure development.

Essential Functions
  • Lead a Software Team / Project with strong project management skills
  • Project planning, task definition and assignment; performance monitoring
  • Object-oriented design and implementation experience with modeling tools (e.g., IBM Rhapsody or Magic Draw/Cameo)
  • Develop software using Modern C++ tools and standards
  • Provide subject matter guidance to one or more software engineers as a senior team member
  • Investigate root causes of complex issues and implement solutions, independently or with a multi-discipline team
  • Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical concepts in software development for target hardware
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop interfaces between hardware and software and define performance requirements
  • Support all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, hardware-software integration, and testing
  • Develop software test plans and documentation
  • Use modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct tests, prototype, and evaluate results
  • Participate in peer reviews and manage defect tracking and repair
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship with an active DoD Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience debugging applications on simulated and target hardware
  • Experience with a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) such as Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks, or similar
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Additional Skills
  • Experience with EVMS
  • Project planning, task definition and assignment; performance monitoring
  • Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages for real-time embedded systems
  • Experience with Information Assurance and/or cryptography; NSA Type 1 or other SW certification such as DO-178
  • Prior Rust experience

Salary range: $125,000 - $205,000. This range does not guarantee compensation and final offer depends on experience and location. Benefits include relocation stipend, 401(k), EAP, and company-paid holidays. Benefits vary by date of hire, schedule type, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
