Nurse Practitioner – OBGYN at CFG Health (Per Diem)

Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner with OBGYN experience specializes in the ambulatory care of inmate patients while maintaining professional nursing standards. The role involves working with healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment to deliver effective patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

  • Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.
  • Completes required orientation as directed by facility.
  • Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.
  • Follows facility and CFG Health Systems Occurrence Protocol.
  • Upholds HIPAA and PREA regulations.
  • Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts.
  • Maintains security clearance for the assigned facility.
Job Responsibilities
  • Performs and documents medical evaluations on inmate patients consistent with NCCHC standards of care, NJ 10‑A, ACA, and PBNDS as appropriate.
  • Assesses patients’ mental and physical status based on presenting symptoms and complaints.
  • Constructs treatment plans incorporating ways to address patients’ problems, enhance strengths, involve patients in the process, and include relapse prevention risk management strategies.
  • Writes prescriptions for medications as allowed by state regulations and under CFG formulary guidelines.
  • Monitors patients’ medication.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, or nursing staff, to develop, implement, or evaluate treatment plans.
  • Documents patients’ medical histories, physical assessment results, discharge summaries, and transfer orders.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with health care professionals and others.
Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice as Registered Nurse in the state the facility is located (maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times).
  • Certified to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state in which the facility is located.
  • Has current DEA, CDS and DEA‑X license.

Minimum Work Experience

  • At least two (2) years of providing direct patient care as a Nurse Practitioner, preferred.

  • Maintains an active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Functional Demands

  • Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests.
  • May be required to work nights, weekend, and holidays.
  • On‑call duty may be required (available to work on short notice) as per site requirement.

Physical Demands

  • May regularly be required to stand, sit, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, or stretch, for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate and understand written and verbal communication.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
