CVICU | Registered Nurse | 13-Week Travel RN Contract – Camden, NJ CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Contract in Camden, NJ

Join a high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) team in Camden, New Jersey, as a travel Registered Nurse and provide specialized care to critically ill adult cardiac patients. This 13-week New Jersey travel nursing assignment is ideal for experienced CVICU nurses seeking a collaborative critical-care environment near Philadelphia, with access to Camden’s cultural attractions, waterfront, and greater Philadelphia region.

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,360–$2,480
  • Start Date: November 9, 2026
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour night shifts
  • Shift: Nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
  • Patient Population: Adults requiring cardiovascular intensive care
  • Typical Assignment: Approximately 2 patients per nurse
  • Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Float Expectations: Based on staffing needs, nurses may float to designated nearby hospitals within the healthcare network and within their skill set
  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • Scheduling Notes: Block scheduling is not available. Requested time off must be submitted with the application, and time off is not permitted during the first week of the assignment.
CVICU Registered Nurse

Job Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey or a valid Compact license, active and in hand at submission
  • At least 2 years of recent CVICU or cardiovascular intensive care experience, including experience within the past 12 months
  • Recent open-heart recovery experience directly from the operating room is required
  • Experience managing balloon pumps, LVADs, Impella devices, and ECMO
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS certification is also required
  • Recent Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience
  • Strong competency with ventilator management, vasoactive and cardiac drips, arterial and central lines, CRRT/CVVHD, dysrhythmia interpretation, and post-cardiac surgery care
  • Ability to successfully complete the required dysrhythmia assessment within 72 hours of signing; two attempts are permitted
  • Willingness to complete required pre-employment laboratory testing and fit testing
  • First-time travelers may be considered, though prior travel nursing experience is preferred
CVICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult cardiovascular patients
  • Provide direct care for patients recovering from open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, valve procedures, CABG, and other complex cardiovascular interventions
  • Monitor and manage patients receiving mechanical circulatory support, including IABP, LVAD, Impella, and ECMO therapies
  • Titrate vasoactive, cardiac, sedative, insulin, and neuromuscular-blocking infusions according to clinical protocols
  • Assess and manage ventilated patients, respiratory failure, pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, acute stroke, renal failure, and multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Interpret dysrhythmias, arterial blood gases, and hemodynamic data to support timely clinical decisions
  • Manage arterial lines, central lines, pulmonary artery catheters, epicardial pacing wires, chest tubes, drains, and other critical-care equipment
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation, rapid response, and other interdisciplinary teams
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in Epic
  • Maintain flexibility to float to designated network locations and support safe patient care based on staffing needs
