Security Officer, 1st shift, Full Time, 40hr/wk

Join Virtua Health as a 1st shift Security Officer, 40hr/wk. This role involves safeguarding hospital premises, monitoring alarms, performing weapon screening, and responding to emergency incidents. Work closely with facility staff, patients, vendors, and law enforcement.

Safeguard, patrol, and monitor buildings, grounds, and property to protect lives and property, prevent theft, fire, vandalism, and unauthorized entry while enforcing Virtua policies. Assist visitors, patients, vendors, and staff with excellent customer service and hospitality. Conduct weapon screening, provide accurate information, directions, and respond to all emergency situations, escalating as needed. Monitor alarms, surveillance cameras, and maintain visitor control systems.

• Perform duties across assigned posts, including walking and mobile security rounds, stationary posts, traffic control, and special assignments.
• Monitor doors, surveillance cameras, and alarms.
• Utilize Health System technology for visitor control, data input/output, weapon screening with handheld wands and EVOLV system, investigations, incident reports, shift logs, access control, infant protection, and security of sensitive areas.
• Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with team members, OIC, supervisors, nursing supervisors, security teams, and law enforcement.
• Provide directions and escort visitors, vendors, patients, and staff to appropriate locations within and outside facilities.
• Verify staff wearing s and enforce /pass policies for public; fabricate s when required.
• Address maintenance issues and coordinate with leadership for resolution.
• Respond to emergency situations such as CODE Security and CODE RED alerts, hazardous/chemical spills, and other emergencies as a 1st‑level operations responder.

• 2+ years of security experience preferred.
• Ability to remain levelheaded and respond quickly in stressful situations.
• Proficient written and oral communication skills.

High School diploma or equivalent.

• Valid Driver’s License required.
• NJ Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) certification preferred.
