Correctional Officer CRCC (Full-Time) – State of Missouri

Annual salary includes a $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend ($1,560 annually) for full‑time positions in maximum‑security institutions.

• Maintain security in buildings, towers, and other posts of an adult correctional facility; intervene during emergencies or altercations and gain physical control of offenders.
• Supervise the movement of offenders inside and outside the correctional facility; conduct periodic counts; search offenders and their living quarters for contraband; escort/transport offenders to designated locations.
• Supervise offenders in housing units and during work, recreational, and religious activities.
• Conduct inspections for health and safety hazards; prepare and submit reports on offender violations of rules, unusual behaviors, mechanical deficiencies, and security breaches.
• Discuss minor adjustment problems with offenders; refer serious problems to appropriate staff; promote rehabilitation by encouraging worthwhile activities and discouraging undesirable behaviors.
• Supervise visits with offenders; search visitors, offenders, buildings, and grounds for contraband.
• Perform work in accordance with established rules, regulations, post orders, and specific instructions; receive general administrative direction.
• Perform other related work as assigned.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Complete Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training during Basic Training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.

• Complete and maintain firearms certification training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Possess a valid vehicle operator's license.

• A $2.00 per hour shift differential for shifts beginning between 12:00 pm and 5:00 am at 24/7 congregate care facilities.
• A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend for assignments in regular posts within restrictive housing or segregation units.

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service, up to 20 years.
