Job Description
HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
Mangat Construction | Full-Time | On-Site:
Camp Verde, AZ
Pay based on experience
ABOUT US
We are a family-owned group of companies working in civil construction and real estate development. We manage civil construction and commercial development projects, and we hold ourselves to a high standard in the field and in the office. This is a fast-moving environment where your work directly affects our projects and our people.
THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to keep our fleet running on a large active project in Camp Verde. You'll be the go-to person on site for keeping equipment safe, maintained, and productive, and you'll work closely with superintendents and operators to keep downtime to a minimum. Our fleet is a mix of newer and seasoned equipment, so you'll get plenty of hands-on mechanical work alongside computer diagnostics.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment on site, including excavators, dozers, loaders, motor graders, scrapers, compactors, backhoes, skid steers, and water trucks
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drive trains, and undercarriages
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), fluid sampling, and scheduled services to minimize downtime
• Use diagnostic software and laptops on newer machines, and traditional mechanical troubleshooting on older equipment
• Complete field repairs from a service truck and coordinate larger repairs with dealers and vendors
• Keep accurate service records, work orders, and parts usage logs
• Inspect equipment and report safety concerns to the superintendent
• Order and track parts and supplies
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• 5+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience, ideally in civil, earthmoving, or construction environments
• Strong diesel, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Experience with CAT, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, or similar equipment
• Comfortable working on older equipment and mechanical systems, not just newer computer-controlled machines
• Your own hand tools
• Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
• Valid Class [A/B] CDL required, with a current DOT medical card and an acceptable driving record
• Welding and fabrication experience a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions, including Arizona summer heat
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb on equipment, and work in tight spaces
• Job sites require a hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, work boots, and other PPE as required by the specific task.
SCHEDULE
Full-time. Start times are determined by the time of year and the needs of the job site. Overtime and occasional weekends as needed.
BENEFITS
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• 401(k)
• Vacation time
• Sick time
• Room for advancement as our company and fleet continue to grow
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through this posting. Mangat Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment is contingent on a DOT pre-employment drug test and background check.
