Program Coordinator, Early Childhood Care & Education
North Island College invites applications for the Program Coordinator role in the Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) program, offered in partnership with Homalco First Nations. The coordinator reports to the Dean of Health & Human Services and provides educational leadership for the one‑time ECCE diploma offering.
Responsibilities- Coordinate decanal operations in collaboration with the office of the Dean, faculty, and industry experts, supporting program development, delivery, and innovation.
- Assist faculty and act as liaison with the Office of the Dean and the Office of Teaching and Learning, conducting program reviews and initiating improvements.
- Facilitate regular meetings to keep faculty informed of programming and regional developments.
- Collaborate with Department Chairs and the Office of the Dean to support program/course articulation, accreditation processes, and policy application.
- Advise and apply college policies to faculty and students, reviewing drafts and communicating concerns to appropriate committees.
- Manage enrolment, liaise with industry and Student Services, and support marketing and recruitment strategies.
- Engage with college committees and recruitment activities, monitoring training needs and industry trends relevant to Health and Human Services.
- Support onboarding and orientation of faculty and facilitate student orientation to the institution and program.
- Review program commencement and first‑year implementation, establishing connections with student advisors to enhance student success.
- Maintain effective communication with faculty, staff, and external partners to promote program success.
- Collaborate with high‑school recruiters and marketing professionals to increase program visibility and attract prospective students.
- Ensure Indigenous‑led learning is integral to the program, working closely with Elders and Indigenous community partners to align delivery with cultural protocols and local priorities.
- Provide support to students experiencing challenges and promote student well‑being.
- Execute any additional responsibilities that may evolve under guidance of the Dean and Associate Dean.
- Support student and/or parent/guardian inquiries, liaise with faculty and student services regarding policy and program matters.
- Work with Department Chairs and faculty to develop mid‑ and long‑term program goals and tactical plans, ensuring continuous review.
- Encourage and support professional development of faculty, exposing them to new developments in 21st‑century education.
- Advising on program scheduling to best support student success.
- Assist with curriculum development, revision, and expansion, ensuring alignment with learner needs and accountability structures.
- Liaise with Department Chairs regarding programming and instructional considerations; communicate with department members and students regarding committee matters.
- Master’s degree in a relevant Health and Human Services field.
- Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in post‑secondary education and instruction.
- Experience in program development, project management, student recruitment, and retention.
- Experience engaging and collaborating with practice partners and employers to advance programming and student success initiatives.
- Experience with community‑based programming supporting Indigenous learners and under‑represented learners, including women and LGBTQIA learners.
- Knowledge of diverse student‑centred resources for employment and work‑search success.
- Knowledge of North Island College policies, procedures, and systems.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including independent and collaborative project leadership, report production, communication of updates, and timely deliverables.
- Ability to work under tight timelines while maintaining professional relationships with colleagues, industry, and students.
- Experience designing and developing high‑quality student learning experiences, integrating learning technologies, applied, and blended programming.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
