School District 72 operates throughout a large geographic area. Campbell River and Quadra Island schools and our school board office are located on the traditional territory of the Liǧʷiɫdaxʷ people. About the Role- Support educators in the effective integration of educational technology to enhance teaching, learning, assessment, and reporting practices.
- Design and facilitate professional learning that builds educator capacity in the use of digital tools, platforms, and emerging technologies, including Brightspace, My Education BC, Microsoft 365, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Promote innovative, inclusive, and evidence-informed practices that support student engagement, accessibility, digital literacy, computational thinking, and digital citizenship.
- Collaborate with school and district staff to lead, support, and evaluate educational technology initiatives aligned with district priorities.
- Serve as a liaison between educators and the District Information Technology Department to ensure instructional needs inform technology planning and implementation.
- Develop, curate, and maintain resources, tools, and supports, including the District's online learning hub, to assist educators in integrating technology effectively into their professional practice.
- Monitor emerging trends and research in educational technology and provide leadership that supports continuous improvement and innovation across the district.
- A valid BC Certificate of Qualification through the Ministry of Education.
- Extensive professional development in technology to support students, teachers and educational support staff.
- A passion for improving the life chances for all students through strong literacy development and supports.
- Extensive successful teaching using technology.
- Knowledge and experience with Indigenous content.
- Professional development in First Peoples' Principles of Learning.
- Extensive work in mentoring and delivering professional development to other educators (administrators, teachers and educational support staff).
- Proven ability to work well as an integral part of a team which could include administrators, district leadership team, classroom teachers, support teachers, and educational support staff.
- A deep understanding of current trends in instructional practices including inquiry-based learning, formative assessment, social emotional learning, and universal design for learning.
- A deep understanding of how SEL is contextualized by the Core, Curricular, and Content Competencies and is central to British Columbia's K-12 curriculum and assessment system, directly supporting students' growth as educated citizens.
- A deep understanding of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Exemplary leadership, interpersonal, organizational and consultation skills.
- A desire to be innovative in approach.
- Strong technology skills to utilize a variety of delivery modes to educators, parents and students.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
- A valid driver's license with access to a vehicle every day.
- An inquiry-based and collaborative approach to the delivery of the BC Curriculum.
- Social/Emotional Learning and an in-depth knowledge of the BC Mental Health Framework.
- The incorporation of the First People's Principles of Learning.
- Diversity, inclusion, and equity.
- Support for the growth and development of individual learners through differentiated learning techniques.
