Elementary School Counsellor – Temporary Position

School District 72 is seeking a 0.6 FTE elementary school counsellor to support classroom teachers and students in the Campbell River area.

Salary: $60,015 to $109,520 (proportionate to FTE)

The successful candidate will support classroom teachers in planning for the social, emotional and behavioural needs of students and demonstrate a strong commitment to the emotional and social development of adolescents.

• Master’s degree in counseling, including a 300‑hour supervised practicum.
• Successful teaching experience at the elementary school level.
• Understanding of substance abuse etiology and prevention strategies.
• Ability to provide individual and group counseling services to students.
• Knowledge of classroom management techniques.
• Skill in helping students with social and learning difficulties.
• Effective communication skills with students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community agencies.
• Proficiency with related computer software and technology.
• Commitment to professional development and growth.
