This program is delivered in a scheduled online format.
Delivered in partnership with Wei Wai Kum First Nation, We Wai Kai First Nation, and North Island College, the Indigenous Language Fluency Certificate supports the revitalization and strengthening of Liq̓wala through immersive, culturally grounded language learning. Through a series of progressive immersion courses, learners build language fluency using local Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing and being, while exploring the connections between language, identity, place, wellness, and community.
The program incorporates culturally relevant, experiential learning activities and is delivered in a scheduled online format.
The teaching faculty of North Island College are responsible for implementing the College’s vision, goals, and objectives as they relate to teaching and learning. To carry out their teaching assignments, faculty use organizational skills, inter-personal skills, and their knowledge of subject matter, pedagogy, and curricular design. In addition, they have a responsibility to serve as role models for students and colleagues.
