Support student safety and inclusion as a Temporary Education Assistant at Carihi Secondary School in Campbell River. Apply trauma-informed, low-arousal practices.
School District 72 seeks an Education Assistant for intensive behaviour support from November 23, 2026, to June 30, 2027. Working under school administration, classroom teachers, and Inclusive Education, you will reinforce positive behaviour and provide academic assistance. The position supports students with severe behavioural challenges and special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Teach, model, and reinforce pro-social behaviours
- Support students on risk reduction plans
- Use communication skills to diffuse escalated behaviours
- Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support
- Participate in IEP meetings and behaviour planning
- Two-year Educational Assistant diploma or certificate with related experience
- Two years’ experience supporting children with special educational needs
- Current CPI or low-arousal certification
- Training or experience with complex behavioural challenges
- Effective communication, flexibility, and confidentiality
