About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Mechanical
Engineer to estimate and support infrastructure projects involving repair, design, and custom manufacturing for the hydroelectric and infrastructure sector. The successful candidate will manage projects from initial customer engagement through estimation, construction or repair, and installation, ensuring quality and documentation requirements are met. This role involves hands‑on coordination with engineering, production, supply chain, and customers, with work occurring in the office, shop, and site visits.
- Manage projects involving non-standard equipment and custom fabrication for hydroelectric and infrastructure projects
- Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle via email, phone, online meetings, in‑person meetings, and site visits.
- Prepare and oversee bidding work by collaborating with shop, engineering, and purchasing staff to develop accurate labor and material forecasts.
- Develop pricing spreadsheets, proposals, letters, and supporting documentation.
- Oversee all QA/QC requirements, including ITPs, inspection records, material certifications, and personnel qualification records.
- Work closely with shop personnel to ensure quality and compliance.
- Ensure project documentation requirements—safety, QA/QC, environmental, drawing packages, and schedules—are fully met.
- Review and distribute project specifications, drawings, 2D/3D models, BOMs, and applicable standards.
- Identify critical requirements and communicate them clearly to internal teams.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and parts departments to support smooth project execution.
- Perform design tasks and drawing reviews as needed, completion of shop drawings, BOMs
- Proficient in both 3D modelling and interpretation/detailing of 2D drawings with Inventor or Autocad or similar
- Ability to review drawings and determine requirements and also identify potential issues/challenges and/or areas that require additional information, and the ability to communicate these details to the T-MAR team and customer.
- Experience in manufacturing processes: welding, machining, etc.
- Participate in meetings or calls with existing and prospective clients to identify new opportunities.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients.
- P.Eng. registered in Canada, eligible to register with EGBC
- 3yrs experience in related field
