Job Summary

The Team: As part of the BC Compliance and Enforcement Agency, the Natural Resource Officer Service delivers an integrated approach to natural resource compliance and enforcement across British Columbia. Officers and professional staff work in partnership with Indigenous communities, government agencies, industry, and the public to support responsible resource use and environmental protection. We are committed to professionalism, public service, and making informed decisions that make a direct impact on the stewardship and sustainable management of the province’s land, water, wildlife, and forests.

The Role: As a Natural Resource Officer Detective, you will lead high-impact investigations into complex natural resource and environmental offences that can have significant consequences for public safety, ecosystems, and regulatory compliance. This role combines investigative leadership, strategic decision-making, and advanced evidence-gathering to support enforcement actions that stand up to legal scrutiny. Working alongside law enforcement partners, legal counsel, and regulatory experts, you will drive complex files from initial assessment through to court proceedings and administrative hearings.

This position provides the opportunity to lead some of the province's most complex compliance and enforcement investigations while contributing to the effective and accountable enforcement of natural resource legislation. For more information, check out the following link:

  • Demonstrated experience gathering and analyzing documents, storing and preserving evidence obtained in a manner acceptable to criminal court proceedings.
  • Experience maintaining positive relationships with internal/external partners, stakeholders, and other agencies fundamental to your and the program’s success.
