Youth Peer Support Worker

Make a difference in youth lives as a Youth Peer Support Worker with the John Howard Society of North Island in Campbell River. This part-time role emphasizes community engagement, support, and recreational activities.

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team focusing on youth aged 12 to 24, planning and delivering recreational and educational activities. Essential skills include active listening, strong communication, and the ability to foster positive relationships. The role requires both independent initiative and teamwork, truly impacting youth development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement community-based activities

• Facilitate one-to-one and group youth support

• Monitor and observe client behavior

• Provide guidance in life and social skills

• Accompany clients to community appointments

Requirements:

• Six months experience in youth peer support

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media

• Strong communication and rapport-building skills

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Criminal record checks required
