Sr. Cost Accountant
Pay $50-60

Onsite in Campbell, CA

SUMMARY:

The Senior Cost Accountant is an experienced professional responsible for managing cost of goods sold and inventory accounting, developing and maintaining standard costs, and analyzing manufacturing variances, as well as overseeing the manufacturing and inventory modules in the company’s ERP system. This position contributes to cost accounting month end close, reconciles inventory, and prepares journal entries. Working closely with manufacturing, supply chain, R&D and quality, this job assesses opportunities to devise solutions where own judgement, drawn from expertise, leads to an optimum course of action.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure the bill of materials and routings are accurate.
  • Responsible for all aspects of annual standard cost rolls including component cost update, overhead rates, BOM review, and routing maintenance (including labor costs and subcontract processing).
  • Provide analysis on cost revaluation to ensure inventory is valued properly.
  • Participate in weekly, monthly, and quarterly cost accounting activities and related financial reporting.
  • Prepare work order close review and reconcile perpetual inventory to GL. Inventory accounts include raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods and trunk stock. Prepare adjusting entries as needed.
  • Oversee company's cycle count and year-end physical inventory programs.
  • Maintain inventory/finance related data and system attributes within QAD. Work with Operations to improve business processes and efficiency.
  • Work with external auditors/consultants and provide audit and tax supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX control environment and support SOX IT compliance, as applicable.
  • Build strong relationships across functions within the company and maintain an open flow of communication to build deep knowledge of current events in the business.
  • Actively promote and support the Quality Management System, Quality Objectives, and Quality Policy.
  • Assure that you and functional subordinates (if applicable) are trained on all applicable procedures and processes according to Good Manufacturing Practices, applicable FDA, and Regulatory requirements.
  • Actively promote and support the company’s Management Review process.
  • Inform responsible personnel of concerns involving product quality.
  • Perform job functions in a safe and effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting and a minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience with demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing accounting; or a combination of education/training and experience.
  • Experience in Biotech/Medical Device Manufacturing and public company experience is preferred.
  • Proven experience working with an ERP (QAD preferred), and collaborating with Operations and R&D.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed; conscientious approach to work assignments.
  • Communicates well at all levels with proven ability to follow through with tasks and deadlines timely.
  • Enjoys the challenges of multitasking while staying flexible to shift tasks frequently.
  • Strong ability to clearly and concisely communicate and collaborate within the team as well as non-accounting professionals.
  • Demonstrated leadership and history of driving change in a growth environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work through varying situations.
  • Must have strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and complete ownership of area of responsibility.
  • High degree of integrity including ability to successfully handle sensitive or confidential information.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
