Veterinary Technician Lead, Critical Care

Registered Veterinary Technician OR Senior Veterinary Assistant Co-Lead – Critical Care – Overnight Shift / 3rd Shift

Salary Range: $30‑$40 per hour with a $5.50 overnight differential.

About the role: As a CCU Tech Lead, you will provide vital support to our veterinarians in ensuring the utmost care and comfort for our patients. You will manage and lead a team of veterinary professionals in our fast‑paced, dedicated team, partnering with another clinical lead to support that robust 24/7 team.

• Assist veterinarians during treatments and procedures.
• Monitor critically ill or injured patients closely.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure around-the-clock care and treatment coordination.
• Offer compassionate care and support to patients and their owners.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures such as bloodwork and imaging.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Monitor and maintain medical equipment.
• Communicate with pet owners regarding patient updates and treatment plans.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and provide emergency care as needed.
• Serve as the liaison between leadership and staff for the department.
• Maintain and improve department workflow and resolve issues.
• Develop, maintain, and update training procedures for current and new staff.
• Provide feedback for performance evaluations and counseling.
• Manage day‑to‑day department flow.

• Full‑time, 4/10’s – includes one weekend shift per week.
• Overnight shift.

• High school diploma.
• RVT preferred;
  Senior Veterinary Assistant also considered.
• 5+ years of clinical experience in an ER/CCU setting.
• Previous leadership experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, invoices, estimates, etc.
• Maintain CA Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) – must obtain within 60 days of hire unless holding a valid CA‑RVT license.
