Introduction
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Support Service (RSS) aims to provide seamless access to support, advice, research design and collaboration from pre-application to post-application for researchers working across the remit of NIHR in England.
We are seeking an Outreach and communications co-ordinator to work alongside the RSS Specialist Centre team to deliver its objectives. The postholder will be situated within the growing social care research group in the School of Business & Society, which includes other large programmes of related work, such as the executive and administrative functions of the national NIHR School for Social Care Research.
Mainpurpose of the role
- To lead outreach and engagement activities to promote the RSS and contribute to the delivery of the strategic programmes, across social care stakeholders.
- To support the delivery of RSS objectives through the postholder’s knowledge and experience of social care research.
- To lead on delivery of the Centre’s communication plan.
- Masters degree with research component or equivalent experience
- Understanding of the relationship between practice and research in social care and knowledge of how to apply research methods in social care to develop high quality research
- Knowledge of the context of adult and children’s social care in local authorities, practitioner teams and local community and voluntary services.
- Ability to communicate effectively through different mediums with a variety of different stakeholders ranging from academics, local authority managers, social care practitioners, community service managers, people with lived experience, and others.
- Knowledge and experience of constructing or working with communication strategies
- Use digital technologies including Google applications and/or Microsoft Office
- Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats, including the use of a variety of digital tools
This is a fixed term contract until September 2028.
