We encourage applications from Social Workers to join our friendly team in Campbeltown in the Kintyre Peninsula. You would be a respected member of the Adult Care Social Work Team where the principle of integrated working with NHS Highland is firmly embedded. You would work alongside both local authority and NHS colleagues and be part of a wider multidisciplinary community team.

Argyll and Bute is one of Scotland’s most stunning areas. As its award-winning council, we play a vital part in the day-to-day life and long-term future of our beautiful and diverse communities. Our unwavering purpose is to make Argyll and Bute the place to be, the place where people want to live, to work and do business. And we are committed to making the council the place
** to have a great career**, by providing excellent benefits and a friendly, dynamic working culture so that each of our 5000 colleagues can deliver services that help our corner of Scotland thrive. Join us to make a difference.

You will be based within our Adult Care Social Work Team in Campbeltown Hospital. The post involves travel throughout Kintyre, including Gigha and may occasionally necessitate travel to Islay. You will work with services users and their families in Campbeltown, remote villages, and other rural settings. Argyll and Bute, and in this instance Kintyre, is a very attractive and scenic part of Scotland.

In addition to the core activities of assessment and case management, it will involve being included in a duty rota and attending multi-disciplinary meetings. You will work in partnership with our Allied Health Professionals & nurses in the wider community and within our community hospital. Our operational social work team includes a Social Work Team Manager, and the successful applicant will be one of three qualified workers and three Social Work Assistants.

Your work will mostly involve working with older adults but also include some work with younger adults. The role is diverse in nature, and will include some Adult Support & Protection work.

You will have an ability to build and sustain relationships, act quickly, be able to work under pressure and to deadlines. You will have good interpersonal communication and require confidence in liaising with a raft of agencies including the third sector and with private providers. You will advocate on behalf of service users and carers and have an understanding of the needs of carers.

The successful candidate will have an ability to work as an autonomous practitioner and will retain an ability to prioritise their workload while adopting a flexible approach to working.

You must be registered as a Social Worker with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and will maintain responsibility for and uphold the relevant professional standards as prescribed by the SSSC for what is a registered role and for duties and services provided. You will also continue and maintain your education and training throughout your own career. A valid clean driving licence is desirable as the post demands travel to remote and rural areas and alternative means of transport is limited.

Our employees make good things happen in the day-to-day life and for the longer term future of Argyll and Bute. We want you to feel valued working for us. We offer various benefits to support you, such as a competitive salary, pension scheme, generous leave entitlement, cycle to work scheme, discounts on gym memberships and leisure centres, wellbeing initiatives, and opportunities for learning and career growth.

We also embrace a modern approach to work, offering a flexible first approach where possible to requests from our employees to how they work.

We care about our people and the world around us and always aim to do the right thing. From employee recognition schemes to environmental policies we have many…
