Location:
USA – CT, Canaan (Primary Work Location).
Work Shift:
7 PM–7 AM (12‑hour night shift). Primary work requires minimum 4 days in‑office per week, with flexibility for remote or field‑based arrangements where applicable.
The Machine Operator works within BD’s medical technology manufacturing environment to maintain high product quality and production efficiency. The role focuses on operating, monitoring, and supporting continuous production processes, ensuring adherence to GMP and quality documentation.
Responsibilities- Continuously monitor operations for product quality and equipment performance.
- Make authorized equipment adjustments and modifications to maintain process quality and productivity.
- Perform in‑process quality checks and complete all required documentation accurately.
- Collaborate with mechanical technicians and cell leads; seek assistance to meet production and quality goals.
- Assist with product or equipment changeovers and maintenance.
- Repair equipment, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area that complies with GMP requirements.
- Accurately record data for PPH, scrap/waste, SAP and MES transactions.
- Report issues to the Cell Lead.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities (Kaizen, Blitz, KAS).
- Cooperate with shift teams to ensure smooth shift hand‑offs.
- Support schedule requirements through overtime if necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Actively engage to achieve departmental safety goals.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Debrief incidents and implement root‑cause solutions.
- Hold team members to safety standards and regulations.
- H.S. Diploma/G.E.D. preferred or 2 years of industrial/manufacturing experience.
Starting pay ranges from $21–$23 per hour; a 6 % shift differential is added for night shift positions.
Workplace and FlexibilityBD requires a minimum of 4 in‑office days per week for most roles. Remote or field‑based positions have separate arrangements. The company values collaboration, innovation, and a balance between onsite presence and flexibility.
