About This Role Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Controller actively participates in the company’s accounting activities, month-end close, payroll processing, reconciliations, government remittances and the maintenance of reliable financial information.

The incumbent works in a manufacturing and cooperative environment comprising several business units, including processing plants, retail stores, a restaurant, distribution routes and sales activities. The position helps ensure transaction accuracy, the quality of accounting follow-ups and the availability of information required for  collaboration with the Human Resources team, the Assistant Controller also participates in payroll processing and the related accounting follow-ups.

MAIN DUTIES
· Participate in the monthly and annual closing processes.
· Prepare and record month-end journal entries.
· Perform bank reconciliations.
· Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
· Prepare and reconcile applicable government remittances.
· Participate in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
· Prepare accounting analyses as required by the Financial Controller.
· Perform accounting follow-ups related to the stores, restaurant, distribution routes, sales and plants.
· Participate in payroll processing in collaboration with the Human Resources team.
· Record payroll journal entries and perform the related reconciliations.
· Monitor payroll deductions, remittances and related obligations.
· Participate in the monitoring of capital assets, acquisitions and depreciation.
· Support inventory-related activities and the associated accounting entries.
· Assist in preparing the annual audit file.
· Respond to auditors’ requests under the supervision of the Financial Controller.
· Collaborate with accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure the consistency of accounting information.
· Participate in the continuous improvement of accounting processes.
· Comply with internal policies, financial controls and established deadlines.
· Perform any other related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

What You Have
· Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business administration or another relevant field.
· A minimum of three to five years of accounting experience.
· Experience in a manufacturing, retail, distribution or multi-site environment is a significant asset.
· Payroll experience is a significant asset.
· Good understanding of the full accounting cycle.
· Experience with reconciliations, month-end journal entries and government remittances.
· Excellent proficiency in Excel.
· Experience with an ERP system is an asset.
· Bilingualism in French and English, depending on the requirements of the position.
