Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin ("KIDO") is the KI Family Law and its Maamao Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin ("MDK") service model carries out child and family services, but KIDO is much broader than mainstream services. It is specific to KI Nation and is an important exercise of Miinikozowin (inherent power) by KI and aims to restore kayaash egwa miinaahchaako kikinohamaakewinan (traditional and spiritual teachings of KI).

Position SummaryThe Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Director is a supporting position to senior management that provides assistance and administrative support directly to the KIDO Assistant Directors, and other senior management as required. The administrative support includes drafting meeting notes and minutes, providing executive summaries of case reports, printing materials, and coordinating meeting logistics for in-person, virtual or hybrid sessions. The KIDO Assistant Directors provide oversight of the Dibenjikewin Kanawenjiikewin:
Family Care & 24/7 Maamao Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin ("MDK") services for KI awaashishag, oshkaadizag and dibenjikewin. (child, youth and families), and their assigned Administrative Assistant will need to understand the scope of this work. This position will work closely with and report to their assigned KIDO Assistant Director, as one is located in KI and one is off-KI in Thunder Bay, ON.
The hours of work are regular office hours per location, but flexibility will be necessary at times to ensure continued operations.
- Provide administrative support for the Assistant Director to ensure their DO Managers and other reporting team members are following the 6 Kaa-iishi-niibawiijikaatek (Principles) outlined in section 9 of the MDK service model.
- Must approach all their work based on love and compassion; and remain professional and set aside personal issues, keeping an open mind and not being judgmental.
- To preform duties in a timely manner and keep up in a fast-paced working environment.
- To receive intense training on KIDO and its MDK Service Model.
- Must maintain confidentiality of workplace information and events and sign an Oath of Confidentiality form.
- Participate in required KIDO training, including in the areas of operational, services, and administrative (HR, Finance) functions.
- To attend regular scheduled meetings, including Legal and Policy Update, HR Check-ins, Quarterly Case File Review, and the Operational Table.
- To monitor the employee attendance reports during regular work hours and assist with processing time sheets.
- Assist with various HR matters including attending performance evaluations and the creation of performance improvements plan.
- Assist with preparing Assistant Director’s Report for presentation at DOO board meetings.
- Becoming familiar with the MDK Database system, to review and report on staff usership.
- To travel to attend meetings and events as assigned.
- Hours of work will be during regular KIDO office hours, but will require flexibility for meetings and events of KIDO that requires the KIDO Assistant Director.
- Other duties as assigned by the KIDO Assistant Director, and at times other senior management, including the KIDO Director, as necessary.
