Senior Project Superintendent
Salary Range: $120,000 – $145,000 annually
The Senior Project Superintendent manages all field construction for assigned construction project(s). Responsible for and enforces company and project policies and ensures project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
This position is based out of our Northern Ontario office in Sudbury, Ontario.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Being an ambassador of the Company both internally and externally.
Mobilizing of the project – equipment choices, site layout and set-up etc.
Organizing and coordinating all subcontractor activities (includes conducting and chairing weekly co-ordination meetings), assisting project manager with buyouts, monitoring subcontractor monthly progress invoices.
Developing, monitoring and executing of the project construction plan and schedule; monitor cost control and job costing, quantity reporting, forecasting, productivity; reviewing and implementing changes.
Understanding contractual responsibilities, contract documents and resolving disputes.
Ensure the implementation of the Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the jobsite and adhere to the safety and record keeping requirements.
Mentor, coach, supervise and train Superintendents and other members of project teams.
Labour relations; including interpretation and application of the collective agreement.
Accountable to manage workforce planning and manpower requirements, including layoff procedures of union staff.
Maintain excellent relationships with clients, architects, suppliers and other stakeholders by responding professionally and with a sense of urgency, maximizing potential opportunities for new business within existing client relationships.
Field administration: preparing timesheets, verifying invoices, labour quantities, packing slips, purchase orders, updating daily job diaries, recording As-Built conditions.
Regularly attend any client conducted meetings when needed.
Prepares correspondence, reports, forms, and specialized documents as required.
Project close-out: responsible for final inspections, deficiencies, warranty work and site demobilization.
Ensure compliance with the company’s collective agreement and union obligations and liaise with union representatives as required.
Perform additional assignments as directed by superiors or as required for successful project completion.
Ensure daily site job diaries are completed regularly and accurately. Mentor staff on how to identify and include project details and critical issues into daily diaries.
Qualifications Educational and experience requirements include a construction related degree/diploma or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
10 years of proven construction related experience in ICI market, in supervisory capacity.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans.
Ability to lead and evaluate trade performance is essential.
Ability to manage construction staff and multiple subcontractors as needed.
Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents.
Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate with others a must.
A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques.
Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation, including OH&S regulations and Building Codes.
Familiarity with labour relations and collective agreement management.
Familiarity with project accounting systems, Viewpoint an asset.
First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
