Construction General Laborer

The Construction General Laborer supports concrete construction projects by performing physically demanding tasks on active job sites. This role involves working with concrete forming systems, assisting with setup and dismantling of structures, and maintaining a clean and safe work area across various locations within commuting distance of the main headquarters.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and transport construction materials safely and efficiently around the job site.
• Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades according to site requirements and safety standards.
• Mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt to support forming and finishing activities.
• Assist with setting up and moving concrete frames, including duraform systems, to prepare for concrete pours.
• Support formsetting activities by positioning, securing, and adjusting forms as directed.
• Clean, sort, and neatly pile salvaged materials to ensure they are ready for reuse or removal.
• Remove rubble, debris, and waste materials from construction sites to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Follow instructions from site supervisors and skilled tradespeople to complete tasks accurately and on schedule.
• Use tools and equipment associated with concrete and carpentry work in a safe and responsible manner.
• Adhere to all site safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe lifting practices.

• Concrete labor experience, including working with concrete forming and pouring activities.
• Hands-on experience with setting up and moving concrete frames, including duraform systems.
• Ability to erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades.
• Comfort performing heavy labor and lifting for extended periods in a construction environment.
• Basic carpentry-related skills relevant to formsetting and concrete work.
• Ability to remove rubble, debris, and waste materials safely and efficiently.
• Capability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with a site team.
• Strong awareness of safety practices on construction sites.

• Concrete forming experience, including familiarity with formsetting processes.
• Duraform experience or exposure to similar concrete forming systems.
• Experience working in heavy labor roles on construction sites.
• Willingness to work at various job sites within commuting distance of the main headquarters.
• Reliability and interest in long-term employment in concrete construction.

Work Environment

This role is based on day shifts, typically running from approximately 7:00 . to 4:00 ., with work conducted at various construction sites within about one hour of the main headquarters. You work outdoors and in active construction environments, often on or around concrete forming systems, scaffolding, and other temporary structures. The position involves frequent heavy lifting, repetitive movements, and standing or walking for most of the day.

You are expected to wear appropriate construction attire and personal protective equipment suitable for concrete and general labor work, in line with site safety requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dashwood, ON.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
