Excavator Operator

The Excavator Operator safely operates heavy equipment to support construction and concrete projects from initial site preparation through to completion. This role involves reading and following blueprints, preparing and grading gravel surfaces, assisting with concrete forming and pouring, maintaining equipment in good working order, and working closely with construction crews to deliver high-quality results on a variety of job sites.

• Operate excavators safely and efficiently on construction and concrete project sites.
• Prepare, grade, and move gravel and other materials as required for site preparation.
• Assist with concrete forming, including setting up forms according to project specifications.
• Support concrete pouring activities to ensure accurate placement and finishing.
• Work with rebar, including placing and securing reinforcement according to project plans.
• Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to execute work accurately.
• Collaborate closely with construction crews and other equipment operators to coordinate tasks and maintain smooth workflow.
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Follow all site safety procedures and guidelines while operating machinery and working on active construction sites.
• Adapt to different job sites within the region and complete assigned tasks from start to finish.

• Proven experience operating excavators in a construction or concrete environment.
• Ability to work with gravel, including grading and material handling using heavy equipment.
• Experience operating dozers or similar heavy construction equipment.
• Strong understanding of construction site operations and workflows.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
• Hands-on experience with concrete forming and pouring.
• Ability to work with rebar, including placement and securing.
• Commitment to safe equipment operation and adherence to site safety protocols.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with construction crews and follow direction.

This position operates primarily on day shift, typically from around 7:00 . to 4:00 . Work takes place at various construction and concrete sites located within approximately one hour of the main headquarters. You will work outdoors on active job sites, using heavy equipment such as excavators and dozers, and handling materials like gravel, concrete, and rebar in a typical construction environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dashwood, ON.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
