Construction Labourer

Job Description

This role involves performing a wide range of construction tasks on site to support ongoing projects, with a strong focus on concrete work and general labour duties. You will work as part of a safety-focused team to help complete structures and infrastructure to a high standard.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general construction labour tasks as needed on site, including assisting trades and supporting daily project activities.

  • Carry out concrete-related work such as chipping, forming, stripping, and other concrete preparation and finishing tasks.

  • Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned duties.

  • Assist with carpentry-related tasks, including working with formwork and structural components as required.

  • Support concrete finishing activities to ensure surfaces meet quality and specification standards.

  • Work with rebar and reinforcement materials, including placement and preparation for concrete pours.

  • Perform process work related to concrete and construction activities, following site procedures and instructions.

  • Assist with concrete forming and related tasks for pipe and valve installations.

  • Support work in and around water treatment facilities, including tasks related to concrete and mechanical structures, when required.

  • Work at heights and in formwork concrete areas while following all safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with a team of 1020 workers and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.

  • Follow all health and safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to site rules.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure tools and equipment are used and stored safely.

Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of construction labour experience.

  • Hands-on experience working with concrete, including chipping, forming, stripping, and related tasks.

  • Basic experience using hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.

  • Experience with concrete finishing tasks.

  • Experience working with rebar and reinforcement materials.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, and working in various outdoor conditions.

  • Ability to work at heights and in formwork concrete areas while following safety procedures.

  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices on construction sites.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team and follow directions from supervisors.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with concrete forming for pipe and valve work.

  • Experience working in or around water treatment facilities.

  • Experience in carpentry-related tasks on construction sites.

  • Experience with process work related to concrete and structural construction.

  • Comfort working in a suburban community in a rural or country setting.

  • Willingness to move between nearby project locations as required.

Environment

This role is based between Durham and Chatsworth along Highway 6, with sites approximately 25 minutes apart, in a suburban community within a country area. You will work a day shift from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as part of a team of 1020 people. The environment includes work at heights and in formwork concrete areas, with a strong emphasis on health and safety practices.
