The Mountaineer is on the hunt for a reporter with a connection to the community and a commitment to high-quality journalism. You will be responsible for covering local news, including regular council meetings and contributing to special sections. This position demands flexibility as it includes reporting during evenings and weekends to ensure timely coverage of breaking news.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cover local Town of Rocky news events and council meetings

• Generate engaging content for special newspaper features

• Write articles and capture photographs on diverse topics

• Work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings

• Follow ethical journalism standards and practices

Requirements:

• Journalism diploma or certificate is essential

• Must have own transportation and camera gear

• Strong ethical commitment to journalism

• Excellent writing and photography skills

• Ability to work autonomously in the field
