Job Description    Our physician team is proud to operate our Emergency Room 24/7 year round. With full time access to lab and X-ray services, including CT scanner, we provide a vital source of emergency care to Western Cape Breton. At present, shifts are 12-hour solo coverage and are compensated hourly.
We are looking into adding a double-coverage option for peak hours and we are keen to support physicians new to emergency medicine or new to the Nova Scotia system to enhance your skills and comfort in this exciting and vital area of rural health care.
Split Flow/Lower Acuity Emergency Medicine - Inverness
We are newly piloting double-coverage for peak hours in the ER and expect there will be opportunities for physicians to take shifts treating triage level 4 and 5 patients (similar to an Urgent Care or Rapid Assessment population) in the emergency room alongside another physician who would manage higher acuity cases. Physicians practicing in Inverness could pick up Split Flow/Lower Acuity shifts in addition to a local family practice.
Once an active coal mining town, today the town of Inverness is better known as a golfer's dream destination with the world-class Cabot Cape Breton's Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links golf courses situated prominently along the warm waters of the Northumberland Strait.
Beach lovers will love to visit Inverness Beach, a long stretch of sandy coastline that is popular with ocean swimmers and beachcombers alike. Walk the boardwalk that overlooks the beach from the sand dunes above and be sure to time your stroll to catch one of the gorgeous sunsets over the ocean. You may even spot a pod of Minke or Pilot whales passing by!
