Position Summary
An opportunity for a Psychiatrist at Ravensview (FT, PT, Locum), part of Homewood Health, the national leader in mental health and addictions treatment in Canada. This position is within our specialized treatment program delivering evidence-based treatments and superior treatment outcomes. This program is delivered on-site at Ravensview, in a collaborative manner, with a supportive interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, dieticians, social workers, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, and horticulture therapists.
In this role, you will be responsible for the clinical psychiatric care of patients as they engage in their recovery journey.
Homewood Ravensview is a private 75-bed mental health, trauma and addiction facility offering evidence-based, medically-led, inpatient services for first responders, military, veterans, executives & professionals, adults, and young adults. What you’ll be doing:
Clinically responsible for assigned patients including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, monitoring, referral, daily care, and discharge.Clinical care includes diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders, medication management, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team for return to work planning and psychotherapeutic interventionsProvide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care including individual assessments with the patient to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are metCollaborate with other physicians, nurses and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary teamComplete documentation including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes, a comprehensive discharge summary and if applicable third-party reports, of the highest quality to ensure the medical record is meaningful and useful and a treatment plan can be established by the teamUtilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided)Provide clinical guidance to the program and to the admitting department for appropriate and timely referrals and admissionsEnsure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintainedSupport colleagues with patient coverage during physician absencesComplete and submit MSP billings in a timely mannerLiaison with third party referrers as needed for continuity of care (VAC, provincial workers compensation boards, employers)What we are looking for:
A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC)Experience with diagnosis and management of, complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders is preferredInterest to work with complex and comorbid disorders as well as ongoing learning and teaching to continually enhance patient carePrevious experience leading teams in an MRP roleAdept at creating an environment that supports team spirit and collaboration across the organizationFaculty appointment – experience in working with medical students and residentsInspire others to be accountable through action, decisions and/or communicationStrong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients, patients, customers, and colleaguesStron…
