Family Practice Anesthetist

Position Summary

Northern Health is seeking a Family Practitioner Anesthetist to provide Anesthesia care in Hazelton, BC at Wrinch Memorial Hospital and Medical Clinic. The FP‑Anesthetists provide regular Anesthesia services for visiting surgeons from nearby communities. There is opportunity to combine your Anesthesia practice with Primary Care and/or Emergency.

• 10 Family Physicians (working toward 9.5 FTE)
• 1 GP Anesthetist (with a goal of expanding to
  2)
• 3 Nurse Practitioners
• 3 Registered Midwives

• Geriatric Assessment Team

Teaching is a time-honored tradition in Hazelton. The team participates in ongoing rotations of Medical Students, Nurse Practitioner Students, Midwifery Students, and Medical Residents. Clinicians also conduct outreach clinics once a week at community health centres (Sik‑E‑Dakh, Anspayaxw, Gitsegukla, Gitwangak, Gitanyow), with learners often scheduled to accompany preceptors.
