Job Description
The County of Grande Prairie Community Libraries are seeking a Summer Library Program Facilitator. The Facilitator’s role is to develop and run recreation and learning based summer programs for children and teens at the community libraries in Elmworth, Hythe, La Glace, and Valhalla.
This position reports to the Director, Library Services and is based at the Hythe Community Library. Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and implement summer programs for children and youth in cooperation with the Library Director and Library Coordinators
- Promote summer programs and recruit participants and volunteers in each community
- Supervise program participants and volunteers, promoting learning, well-being, and fun
- Prepare for and lead activities, games, and crafts in person
- Apply minimal first aid to injured participants as necessary
- Responsible for documentation of all incidents and accidents on the provided forms and immediately inform the Library Director
- Ensure open communication with participants, parents, and staff. Must respond to parent and participant questions and concerns
- Acquire supplies needed for the Summer Library Program within a set budget
- Ensure that all activities, or events, are scheduled and documented in a timely and organized manner
- Proper set up and take-down of daily activities at various locations
- Track program attendance and submit to the Library Director
- Assist the Library Coordinators with other tasks, as needed
The ideal candidate will be a lifelong learner who is enthusiastic, independent, creative, well-read, and enjoys working with children and teens.
Qualifications- Experience working with groups of children
- Previous leadership experience
- Valid class 5 license with an acceptable driver’s abstract
- Reliable vehicle to be used for work purposes
- Knowledge of library policies, procedures, methods, ethics, and professional standards
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan and organize appropriate daily activities
- Ability to work independently and as part of the Library Services team.
- CPR/First Aid with AED
Successful candidates will be required to submit a Criminal Records Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check as a condition of their employment.
Additional InformationTerm Length: This position works Monday to Friday for 35 hours per week from May 4 – August 28, 2026

Pay rate: $29.27 - $34.43
