The Opportunity

New Brunswick Community College is currently seeking an experienced professional to provide Subject Matter Expertise in Wind Turbine Systems courses as part of the Wind & Solar Energy Technician program. February to August 2026, approximately 20 hours per week

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Academic Chair, School of Engineering Technologies, the Subject Matter Expert would:

  • Collaborate with industry partners to gather intel for the specific competencies required for each course in the program.
  • Work closely with an NBCC Learning Design Consultant who will prepare the curriculum.
  • Identify resources and ensure strong connections with industry and post-secondary educational institutions during the development phase of this initiative.
  • What you'll need

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

  • Diploma or Degree in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in wind turbine technology or renewable energy systems.
  • Technical

    Skills:

  • Strong understanding of wind turbine mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Professional

    Skills:

  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated, service and results oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Assets:

  • Safety training for climb and rescue.
  • Industry certifications in wind energy or renewable systems.
  • Experience teaching or working in a post-secondary environment.
  • Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

    Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
