Position: Casual K-12 Teachers Needed - Elkford/Sparwood
Location: East Kootenays (Fernie)

School District No. 5 is hiring Casual K-12 Teachers in Elkford and Sparwood, starting September 8, 2026. This on-call teaching role is a flexible opportunity to inspire students in various subjects.

Ideal candidates will be BC-certified teachers prepared to step into dynamic teaching roles across grades K-12 as needed. Applicants should have a degree and preferred teaching experience in necessary subjects. Those with backgrounds in Elementary Learning Services or Secondary levels such as Math, Science, or French will be prioritized for selection.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction across K-12 as required

• Design and implement engaging lesson plans

• Manage classroom environments effectively

• Communicate student needs to school staff

• Contribute to a collaborative educational environment

Requirements:

• BC Teacher Certification is preferred

• Degree and relevant teaching experience necessary

• Special consideration for expertise in Secondary Math or Learning Services

• References from supervisors required

• Clear Criminal Records Review mandatory
