The salary scale for NSCC Faculty is based on steps that range from $78,771.88 to $. New Faculty may receive up to a maximum of five steps for relevant occupational experience and up to an additional four steps for full‑time equivalent years of instructional experience (instructional experience defined as teaching post‑secondary). The maximum a new Faculty can expect to receive is nine steps or $97,388.02.
Responsibilities Deliver theoretical and practical instruction in the Aviation Institute AMT (Aircraft Maintenance Technology – avionics) program. Courses may also include delivery in mechanical and structures programs.
Coordinate aviation hangar and lab operations, including setting up, taking down, and maintaining organization of hangar/lab materials, equipment, and inventory.
Support preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation of students using flexible teaching and learning practices in lab, hangar, and classroom settings.
Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners, including use of Learning Management Systems (e.g., Brightspace) and classroom technology.
Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in classroom, shops, and labs.
Maintain currency with latest industry practices and continually develop understanding of 21st‑century teaching and learning practices. The role may involve different delivery modalities— in‑class, online, blended—and alternate work hours such as weekends and evenings.
Related duties include academic and career advisement, participation on committees, program marketing, curriculum revision/development, monitoring work placements, liaising with business and industry, representing the College, and upholding NSCC policies and procedures.
Monitor, replenish, and organize hangar and lab supplies and equipment, and assist with hangar and lab orientation when required.
Qualifications Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License “E” rating, or a license (M1 & M2) that previously held an “E” rating.
Minimum five years (full‑time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in avionics. (
Note:
two years of training are counted toward the educational requirements and cannot be included in occupational experience.)
Excellent knowledge of aircraft avionics systems, including communications, navigation, data management, instruments, and electrical power distribution systems.
Experience (asset) in avionics shop, analogue and digital electronics, and small aircraft maintenance.
Clear understanding of Manufacturer's and Regulatory Documentation (CARS
566), including SRM, Service Bulletins, Engineering Drawings, etc.
Demonstrated experience liaising with business and industry in the field.
Familiarity with and comfort using Microsoft Office Suite and email.
Comfortable working in a digital environment, committed to advancing technology, and using multimedia technologies to enhance student experience.
Experience in delivering educational programs or training to adults (asset).
Experience in providing performance feedback (asset).
Knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, and occupation‑specific safety practices.
Ability to teach effectively in an online/blended environment and open to training if no prior experience.
