Faculty – Automotive Service Technician
Nova Scotia Community College, Akerley Campus, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

The salary scale for NSCC Faculty is based on steps ranging from $78,771.88 to $. New Faculty may receive up to a maximum of nine steps (up to $97,388.02) for a combination of occupational experience and instructional experience.
Qualifications
The minimum educational qualification is current Inter‑Provincial Journeyperson status as an Automotive Service Technician.
A minimum of five years of recent and related journeyperson occupational experience in the automotive service industry is required. Two years of your training are counted towards the educational requirements and cannot be included in your occupational experience.
Specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in Diagnostic Software Packages, Manual and Automatic Transmission Repairs, Air Conditioning Service, Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Servicing and Repair.
Familiarity with and comfort using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, e‑mail, industry service information, and diagnostic software applications.
Demonstrated experience liaising with business and industry in your field.
Comfortable working in a digital environment and committed to using technology in support of an exceptional student experience, including multimedia technologies and various platforms for online and blended learning.
Ideally, related experience in the delivery of educational programs or training to adults.
Experience providing performance feedback is an asset.
Knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, occupational health and safety, and occupation‑specific safety practices.
Ability to teach effectively in an online/blended environment, build knowledge of best practices for course delivery, and use a course management system to communicate with students and support a collaborative online learning community. Candidates without prior online/blended teaching experience must be willing to participate in training for this delivery model.

Responsibilities
Provide theoretical and practical instruction in the Automotive Service Technician pre‑apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs.
Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners, including preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation using a broad range of flexible teaching and learning practices and technologies such as learning management systems and classroom technology.
Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in your classroom, shops, and labs.
Maintain currency with the latest industry practices relevant to your program and continually develop your understanding of 21st‑century teaching and learning practices. The position may involve different delivery modalities (in‑class, online, blended online/in‑class), off‑site instruction, and alternate work hours such as weekends and evenings.
Related duties include academic and career advisement, committee participation, program marketing, curriculum revision/development within faculty working groups, support and monitoring of work placements, liaison with business and industry, representation of the College, and upholding NSCC policies and procedures.
Additional Information
As a condition of employment, you are required to provide proof of a valid Red Seal certification, including your Red Seal number for verification with the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, prior to your start date.
