Primary Teacher at Sk’il’ Mountain School

Location: North Island, Sunshine Coast, and Southern Gulf Islands (Whistler)

Sk’il’ Mountain Community School is hiring a Primary Teacher for grades K-2 for the  school year. Experience teaching with a focus on First Nations culture is valued in this unique role.

In this position, you will be instrumental in planning and executing the BC curriculum while fostering a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

Your role will include close collaboration with other educators, engaging with the local community, and adapting programs to meet the varied needs of students. The school promotes the holistic development of children, emphasizing literacy, numeracy, and cultural competence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement lessons that adhere to the BC Curriculum

• Supervise classroom and ensure positive behavior

• Collaborate with special education professionals

• Adapt learning programs for individual student needs

• Engage actively with community members and families

Requirements:

• Certification from the BC Teacher Regulation Branch

• Familiarity with early education programs

• Experience working with Indigenous students preferred

• Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
