Itinerant Sign Language Interpreter

Location: Stockton

Support students at Stockton Unified School District as an itinerant Educational Sign Language Interpreter. Facilitate effective communication for deaf and hard of hearing students across various settings.

In this role, you will work under the direction of special education administrators to provide essential interpreting and transliteration services. Your expertise in sign languages will help bridge communication between students, teachers, and parents. Responsibilities include tutoring D/HH students, attending IEP meetings, and promoting social development through effective communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret for D/HH students in diverse educational environments

• Provide tutoring and instructional support tailored to student needs

• Attend parent conferences and school-sponsored activities

• Maintain student confidentiality and compliance with educational standards

• Facilitate sign language skill acquisition among students and staff

Requirements:

• Associate degree or equivalent college units

• Certification by California Department of Education

• Minimum of two years interpreting experience

• Knowledge of sign languages and special education practices

• Ability to work in varied locations and settings
