Chetwynd Secondary School, part of School District 59, Peace River South, offers a semester‑based program for grades 8‑12 and serves approximately 270 students, including Aboriginal communities. The school emphasizes academic excellence, personal growth, and inclusivity.
Criteria In Order of Preferred Qualification
Completed a Master’s degree in Library Science/studies or related
Currently enrolled in and working toward a Master’s program in Library Science/studies or related
Completed a diploma or certificate in Library Science/studies or related
Currently enrolled in a diploma or certificate in Library Science/studies or related
Willing to enroll in and begin a Master’s degree in Library Science/studies or related upon acceptance of the position
Willing to enroll in and begin a diploma or certificate in Library Science/studies or related upon acceptance of the position
Required Qualifications and Experience
Hold or be qualified for a valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate
Successful K‑12 teacher training and practicum or evaluation documentation
Legally eligible to work in Canada
Desired Qualifications and Experience
Experience adapting and modifying curriculum to meet students’ needs
Ability to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with diverse needs
Strong classroom management skills
Experience working with students who display a variety of behaviors
Strong literacy and numeracy skills
Willingness to work and implement school initiatives and goals
Capacity to work independently and in collaboration with a team
Committed to individualized and group instruction using a variety of effective strategies and techniques
Experience teaching in a multi‑age group setting
Engages in fair, student‑focused assessment practices consistent with the BC curriculum and reporting order, reflecting on evidence of learning to guide instruction

Relocation allowance: up to $5,000 for out‑of‑district applicants (upon submission of approved receipts)
Northern travel allowance: up to $4,000 of the salary can be designated as a Northern Allowance Travel benefit within applicable guidelines (subject to change and eligibility)
Remote and rural allowance: eligible teachers receive an adjustment to the salary grid and an annual allowance of approximately $3,035 per FTE; teachers on call (TOCs) are not eligible
The allowance may increase as defined within the Collective Agreement with the BC Teachers Federation
