Position: Teaching Assistant for SEMH Support
Location: Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands

Become a Teaching Assistant at The School, specializing in SEMH support for students. This role leads to permanent employment after a probation period.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. Collaborating with educators, you will provide essential 1:1 and small-group support that allows students to access learning while managing their emotional needs. This may include working with pupils returning to school after being disengaged.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist students with SEMH needs in small groups and on a one-to-one basis

• Partner with teaching staff to support learning and behaviour strategies

• Help facilitate successful transitions and routine adherence

• Provide guidance for pupils re-engaging after absence from education

• Cultivate trust and confidence in students to enhance their learning

Requirements:

• Genuine interest in SEMH educational support

• Driving license required for this role

• Resilient and patient communication style

• Prior experience in SEN or alternative provisions is an asset

• Strong commitment to facilitating student re-engagement
