Position: Traditional Knowledge Educator at Dene High School

Join Dene High School in La Loche as a Traditional Knowledge Educator. This full-time position focuses on nurturing respect and preserving cultural heritage among students.

The ideal candidate will help create an environment of pride and trust while assisting classroom teachers with First Nations and Métis knowledge. Responsibilities include teaching traditional skills like trapping and fishing, fostering cultural understanding, and providing support in parent groups for at-risk youth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foster an atmosphere of pride and respect in the school

• Assist with preservation of oral traditions and knowledge

• Support teachers with cultural and language education

• Teach trapping, fishing, beading, and storytelling skills

• Engage with at-risk youths and parent support groups

Requirements:

• Grade 12 education required

• 0–6 months of relevant experience preferred

• Commitment to cultural preservation and education

• Ability to work collaboratively with students and families

• Open to diverse perspectives and backgrounds
