Tlingit Language Assistant at Atlin School

Location: Atlin Region (Atlin)

Enhance Indigenous education at Atlin School as a Tlingit Language Assistant. This part-time position allows you to guide students and promote fluency in Tlingit culture while assisting with classroom activities.

The role is designed to provide up to 30 hours per week of support. You will liaise between home and school, monitor student development, and tutor Indigenous learners. The position also involves developing cultural activities, integrating language instruction, and working collaboratively with the Tlingit community and school district.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic support to Indigenous students as needed

• Liaise with parents through visits and consultations

• Monitor attendance and social development of students

• Collaborate on curriculum integration of Indigenous culture

• Organize cultural activities on the land

Requirements:

• Secondary school graduation preferred

• Valid BC class 5 driver's license

• Strong interest in Tlingit heritage and language

• Ability to work effectively in diverse classrooms

• Prepared to undergo a criminal record check
