Location: Spirit River
Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.
Peace Wapiti Public School Division is seeking candidates who enjoy working in a student‑focused and collaborative environment. We invite applications for a Temporary Full Time Outreach Worker . This is an itinerant position based out of the Spirit River Sub Office that will provide services throughout Saddle Hills County.
The Outreach/Mental Health Professional position will serve students, teachers, families and the community in the Saddle Hills County area. The position will involve the development of an innovative program, supporting school, student and community wellbeing, and building community partnerships.
Qualifications
A degree in Social Work (with psychosocial intervention authorization) or equivalent in the field of Human Services Education (Bachelor level) and experience will be considered
Registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (RSW) or the College of Alberta Psychologists
A valid Driver's License and competency in driving in remote areas
Experience with small group, individual and family counselling
Experience working within a school system is an asset
Experience in community development and needs assessment
Competency in risk assessment, service implementation, collaboration, and time management
Desirable attributes include flexibility, ability to participate in a team setting, strong conflict resolution and effective communication skills

Salary and Hours of Work
Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $60,244 to $77,455.30 annually or $43.03 to $55.32 per hour. This position is 35 hours per week, roughly following the school year calendar, for a total of 1,400 hours per school year. The annual salary is paid over 10 months (September to June) and will be prorated for part‑time/part‑year assignments.
