Salary Range:  The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $70,392 to $119,187, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Terms and conditions pursuant to the Collective Agreement between the Cranbrook and Fernie Teachers' Association and School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay).

Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with BC Teacher Certification.

Must have a degree/formal training and/or teaching experience in subjects and at a level specific to each posting.

Must have a Master's Degree recognized by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch in Counselling, Psychology in Counselling or Psychology.

Must have a degree/formal training and/or teaching experience at the K-12 level.

Must have training and/or experience in trauma informed practice.

Job Summary
This District position will support schools in the community of Sparwood, BC. The counsellor will provide one‑on‑one counselling, group counseling, and support to students across K‑12. All work will be on site, commencing September 8, 2026 or upon completion of the posting process.

Responsibilities

Provide individual and group counselling services to students and staff.

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support student mental health and well‑being.

Implement trauma informed practices and programs.

Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
