Position: Literacy Advisor for Student Success
Location: Northwestern Ontario (Red Lake)

Drive literacy initiatives and support educators as a Literacy Advisor under Shibogama Education Department. Collaborate with teachers and students to enhance reading achievement through effective coaching.

As a Literacy Advisor, you will lead school-wide assessments, provide vital professional development, and support classroom instruction.

Your role involves traveling to various communities, analyzing data to improve literacy outcomes, and creating learning materials tailored for educators. You will ensure effective communication and relationship-building with teachers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead literacy assessments and coaching in classrooms

• Travel to communities to support literacy growth

• Provide professional development for school staff

• Monitor and report on literacy initiatives and progress

• Create teaching materials for effective instruction

Requirements:

• OCT certified with knowledge of reading instruction

• Experience in literacy assessment and curriculum delivery

• Training in early literacy is an asset

• Understanding of Jolly Phonics beneficial

• Strong communication skills and multi-cultural competency
