The Role
Coastal Lakes College is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Special Needs Education Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive team.
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you should have the ability to work independently and use initiative to assist the teacher in maintaining order and assisting in the delivery and implementation of planned education programs. Some of the skills and attributes desired to be successful include experience dealing with complex behaviours, working with individuals or small groups of students and reporting student achievement and progress to the teacher, experience with trauma informed practice and mental health, along with a sound understanding of a range of disabilities is disirable.
The successful applicant will ideally have the skills and desire to work collaboratively with all staff in supporting our students to achieve success. Ideally, the successful applicant will possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities.
