Position: Ib Pyp Elementary Teacher (Burlington)
Location: Northwest Newfoundland/Eastern Labrador (Mary's Harbour)

Position Summary  Ashwood Glen is seeking a passionate and collaborative PYP Elementary Teacher to join our team on a short‑term contract to cover a staff leave. The successful candidate will create an engaging learning environment aligned with the IB PYP philosophy, fostering inquiry, student agency, and strong academic foundations.

Key Responsibilities   Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework and Ontario curriculum expectations.
Facilitate transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry that promote critical thinking and conceptual understanding.
Create a supportive classroom environment that encourages student voice, collaboration, and inquiry.
Use a variety of teaching strategies to support different learning styles and abilities.
Employ formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
Encourage student agency, creativity, and critical thinking through interactive and authentic learning experiences.
Collaborate with colleagues on unit planning, curriculum integration, and student support.
Collaborate with specialists and the PYP Coordinator to ensure consistency in teaching and learning.
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, classroom learning, and overall academic and social development.
Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development initiatives.
Contribute positively to the school's professional and cooperative culture.
Qualifications and Experience   Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Ontario Certificate of Teacher Certification (OCT) or eligibility.
Experience teaching at the elementary level (Grade 1–5).
Knowledge of or experience with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is considered an asset.
Strong classroom management and relationship‑building skills.
Passion for inquiry‑based, student‑centered learning.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
